Poetry Piece: Regret

Regret
That’s one of the worst things you can feel.
It’s that horrible moment when you know you screwed up, and you just want to go back in time and fix it all.
But you can’t,
Because it’s not possible.
It’s that horrible feeling in your gut, knowing you could’ve done something different, knowing if only you picked a different choice,
Things would be different,
A better different.
And you wouldn’t feel that horrible guilt, that shameful feeling,
Seeming to be taunting you,
And as you create different scenarios of how the situation could’ve went,
You end up regretting it more and more.
That regret ends up turning into a stronger emotion,
One you can’t control…
Anger
You get so mad at yourself,
At how you didn’t make the right decision,
And you start beating yourself up for it,
Blaming yourself,
Hating yourself.
You try everything to try and make it up, or try and redo it.
But it doesn’t work,
Because you can’t change the past.
And the only thing you can do,
Is try to make it better.
